Hugo Salles is a writer who has spent over twenty years leading teams, experience that put his study of Mahayana and Tibetan Buddhist philosophy in direct contact with the concrete problems of ordinary life: fear, conflict, guilt, attachment, and the decisions that won't wait.

As part of that study, he has translated selected Buddhist sutras into Portuguese, working from canonical texts, established translations, and traditional commentaries.

In The Technologies of the Awakened Mind, he reads the teachings, images, and practices around figures like Tara, Manjushri, Avalokiteshvara, Vajrasattva, and Vajrapani as methods: ways of cultivating courage, clarity, compassion, and discernment that can be tested rather than merely believed.

His books follow one principle: a teaching shouldn't be accepted on the authority of whoever presents it. It should be put into practice, observed, and judged by your own experience.
